Birding in Australia was a fascinating experience.
It is home to many unique and beautiful birds.
Of the 800 species recorded here
About 300 won’t be found anywhere else in the world.
Most of the world's cockatoos are Australian
And no continent other than South America has more parrots!
Wherever you go in Australia there are birds.
Not just in the forests and woodlands
But even in the city streets and backyards of homes!
As you watch them, you are reminded of the words of Shelley:
Hail to thee, blithe spirit!
Bird thou never wert,
That from Heaven, or near it,
Pourest thy full heart
In profuse strains of unpremeditated art

Percy Bysshe Shelley
To a Skylark.

Myself and Ahalya were privileged to have the company of
Some of the most well-known birders when we went for outings in New South Wales.
NSW is blessed with varying terrains, harboring a tantalizing variety of birds.
The glimpses in the following pages are just a sampler!
