On The Footsteps Of The Tiger At Corbett
It was raining when we reached Corbett. But that didn't dampen our spirits. For we had some lovely sightings of birds and butterflies around Camp Corbett where we were staying. When we started off on a misty morning at 4 in the morning for the jeep safari, our expectations weren't high. We ventured into the forest and were amazed at the verdant, undulating landscape. Couple of minutes into the safari, we saw the territorial markings of the tiger and knew that we are entering its den. Soon after we saw some pug marks which were quite recent. As we were looking at it, suddenly there was flutter in the air as all the spotted dears around were scrambling around frantically, signalling the presence of the tiger. With bated breath, we waited for a long long while...much to our dismay we couldn't catch a glimpse of it. We moved on reluctantly but the forest had other avian riches on offer, which we savored, including a majestic Brown Fish Owl. Towards the end of our foray in the jungle, suddenly we noticed a movement just by the side of the jeep and there it was, so well camouflaged! Over the next few minutes, it majestically strolled past us and disappeared into the jungle, totally oblivious of our presence! Truly a moment to cherish for a long long time....
Tiger, tiger, bright as flame!
Your extinction would be our shame!
