Traveling is always a discovery not just of places but of people...especially in India.
Like the time we visited Koonthankulam in Tirunelveli and met Pal Pandian, a self taught birder who sold the jewels of his wife to feed injured pelicans. He was living in abject poverty but his spirits were soaring high... like the birds he was nursing.
He warmly invited me to visit him again and when I enquired about the accommodation,
he showed me his one room hut and said "You stay here Sir...I will sleep outside"!
