The Annual Conference Of The Indian Psychiatric Society at Kochi provided an opportunity to venture into the hinterlands for some birding. I was privileged to have the company of indefatigable Dr George who is an avid nature lover, a talented photographer and I must add...a wonderful company! We birded the whole day in the forests at and beyond Athirapalli, a pristine preserve. The day started with the spotting of scores of grey hornbills by the wayside and there were many lifers on the way! The sonorous whistling thrush kept us company all through and finally caught up with this lissome beauty!
