Sunsets are always enthralling… After a daylong birding sojourn in Point Reyes we were returning to San Francisco, when we paused and took a turn to visit a wetland. The vast landscape in front of us was once a thriving oyster farm. Now, other than a crumbling shed the whole place was deserted. We we were the only people in that desolate landscape and we spent some time watching the waders and herons dotted around the wetland. The light was fading too rapidly making the sightings difficult and we began walking back to the car. I was putting the (rather heavy) camera bag in the boot of the car and when I looked back, I wasn’t prepared for what I was saw. The sky was on fire! I had never seen a sky filled with such fiery pigments of glorious colors. It was as if the sun-painter was flinging his colors across his majestic easel. The sky was ablaze with those glowing colors. The words of Carl Rogers resonated deeply within me “people are just as wonderful as sunset if you let them be”. As I watched, a flock of birds were flying across the setting sun… As the sun was sinking in the west The birds were going home to rest It was a spectacular display. As my gear was safely tucked away in the boot of the car, I grabbed my iphone and started to scan the sky with it, capturing the fleeting passage of these birds across the radiant, luminous sky. The biggest cliché in photography is sunset but I hope these (unedited) images prove otherwise!! photos.app.goo.gl/54vn0xcexLF7bqfR2
